    Here We Go Again

It’s Monday, so I guess another week is just beginning, yet it’s all the same for us. Plans for the next seven days include walking, strolling, going around, and promenading.

We started slower today, 5K in the morning, and picked up bread and pastéis de Nata along the way.

We went through the Estrela garden, a favorite, down to the Parliament, up to Chiado, and through the Bairro Alto. We stopped at Adamastor, a cool lookout point over the river.

It rained a little, making things a bit trickier. Holding the bags and the umbrella gets the number of available hands down to zero, and I really need to find a jacket that can cover tinyMovieStar’s legs and doesn’t become a sauna when it’s closed.

Temperatures are rising, but it’s humid, stuffy, and the rain keeps coming. My wardrobe is not as adequate as it should for these particular circumstances.

Expecting rain and thunder, according to the apps, but instead we got this…

Not bad, sometimes life can be quite good.

    25 de Abril

Parade starts at 3PM, but it’s probably packed, so we went down the avenue at an earlier time. First time for tinyMovieStar, we were leaving the hospital last year.

    Already carrying the mandatory carnation.

    Local News

Tomorrow we’re celebrating the Carnation Revolution, the bookshop dressed accordingly.

Also, seems like the McBifana is coming back.

    Long, Rainy, Sunny, Rainy, Sunny...

A very long Saturday, with plenty of dark skies, and a lot of sunshine. Stuffy heat, and then wind. We’ve been having odd weather, in a word.

Saturday, so that means lunch at my parents, today with part II of tinyMovieStar’s birthday party, back home, and visit from her aunt and uncle. We had a lovely time, cakes and tea, and a chance to catch up.

It’s been months since we saw them last, the live not too far from us, but restrictions were in place, and they live in a different city, so no travel was allowed.

Some work it a bit harder than others…

    It's here!!

    “The plane! The plane!”

I got the notification that the package was out for delivery a little after waking up, and it arrived when we were out on our walk. It’s here!

Some months ago, MANY months ago, @Gaby kindly offered to send a bracelet across the ocean, all the way from Boise to Lisbon. It was a very sweet and unexpected gesture, and I welcomed the offer.

Little did we know that it would take months, with the bracelets (yes, he sent two!!) making the trip three times!

The over zealous customs officers over here wanted their fee, even though they were not entitled to it, and the package was returned to Idaho. This took months! @Gaby tried again.

A few more weeks looking at Parcel, and today was the day!

When we got back from the morning walk I opened the postbox, and there they were!

Quick photos to document the unboxing (had to, right?) and they’re on our wrists already!

We’re thankful, very much so. A nice gesture, and a reminder that friends and community can come at any time, from anywhere. From Puerto Rico, to the US, to Portugal.

    Lots of love!

    The Long Walk

We had to stay out a little longer today, movieStar had back to back Zoom calls.

It started with going down Avenida da Liberdade, where I saw a very nice bumbag, one that would make a super gift for movieStar. Sadly the price tag said €745(!), just a little over what I was willing to spend…

The National Theater, the cool Rossio train station, on to the streets that connect that to the riverside.

We were headed for an area where we hadn’t been yet: Casa dos Bicos, where the José Saramago Foundation is located.

Already close to the river, the whole place is still being renovated, with construction still going on (for a while now), and a few green patches already done. It will look amazing when they manage to finish the whole thing.

Walked along the river, back to our regular spots.

Police patrolling Cais das Colunas, trying to keep groups down to a few people, a couple sawing a huge tree that drifted into the river bank,…

Around Mercado da Ribeira, back to Cais do Sodré, and up the hill again.

We were taking our time, slow walking to make this a three hour stroll, but got a call saying we could get back home, as the second call had been cancelled. We did end up spending two and a half hours outside. Not too shabby.

    Kung Fu Ramen

If I didn’t have a new avatar that I’m quite fond of, I would surely steal this one and use it everywhere!
