thingsThisWeek #121
Slow moving, boring, weak. New family member as highlight. Nothing much other than that.
π₯³ Birthday party on the weekend. Chaos. One of tinyMovieStar’s best friends invites dozens of people to her grandparent’s place in Cascais . It’s a big house, with garden and pool. Sadly it’s the wrong time of year for the place, as it’s usually raining, cold, and people cannot fully enjoy the amenities. We eat and drink, and try to be merry. My watch lets me know it’s too noisy. Drove to the in-laws after that, tinyMovieStar crashed as soon as we got in the car. She the proceeded to have a very late night, the nap ruined it for us. She loves staying up late.
We spent Sunday with the in-laws, and Gaspar was, again, my model.
π» The week started with another attempt at editing the photos from the kindergarten’s Christmas party. I failed.
πΌ Tuesday saw the arrival of the newest family member: Francisca. The daughter of a brother-in-law. Highly anticipated. We visited on Friday. At first there was a “No tinyMovieStar along for the trip” rule, as everyone is afraid of a multitude of diseases that may be present at kindergarten. I was so sorry she was left behind, and extra sad that I was going to lie to her, and never speak about this visit. So, I had to find a way to take her along. I know I’ll have to lie to her, eventually. I don’t want that. I also know she’ll see right through me. And I really don’t want her to look at me, and know that I lied to her.
π· Finally got around to uploading stuff to my Flickr account. Lots of new public photos. It’s been months since I’ve done that, the backlog was huge! I do love to revisit stuff, especially since most of it were very happy times. Thousands of photos still left to process, I’ll probably spend part of next week taking care of that.
π· No work.
πΊ The Day of the Jackal. And a couple episodes of SAS Rogue Heroes. I don’t like when series aren’t available to binge. I’m not used to waiting a week for another episode, like we did in pre-internet times. I get the reason why this is happening, but I don’t like it.
Also spent a while watching clips from Blackadder. Would love to go through the whole show, but I couldn’t find it available on the streaming platforms. Also, hard to believe it’s from 1983-1989! 42 year ago!
And I re-watched Bourdain’s Parts Unknown: Myanmar. Love this one, and how he talks about this very problematic country on a travel show. I revisited this particular episode because…
π I’m reading Tim Vitale’s In the Weeds. After a mention in Mastodon, I got the book. I liked Bourdain, his shows, and the book should be a quick read.
π Quiche, again. This time around I decided to put my money where my mouth is, and signed up for a year. Quiche is a super configurable browser, that feels light and snappy.
π Kagi is back on! Thanks to Sharesub, I was able to find a spot in a family, and now my subscription fee is much more palatable. Also, thank you, Optional, for your lovely idea.
