I never know how to feel about the Algarve. On one hand it’s beautiful, and has a very distinct smell, one that I enjoy very much. On the other one, it can get very tacky very quickly, it’s severely overpriced, and has a few other issues related to excessive tourism.

If you manage to avoid these traps (and believe me it’s not easy), you can have a great time. That’s what happened this time around. Most of the time, at least.

We had a lot of fun, good food, and very comfy room at a lovely house, and the (worryingly early) Spring made it all look lush green with sprinkled flowers all over. Warm too. It was gorgeous.
