Signal, Telegram, WhatsApp, and a tab on Safari with Instagram messages! That’s what I have open at the moment to be able to talk to five people at the same time.
I wish more folks here in the States would adopt Signal, Telegram, or Threema.
@gdp When it comes to the average person in my life — friends, family, neighbours, people in the community — if I talk at all about apps it's one, or a mix, of the following:
- YouTube
- Messages/Email/Camera
- Banking/NHS/Shopping (Amazon, supermarkets, etc)
- Games (Tetris, Wordle, whatever is trendy)
Other than that, nobody knows about other apps.
@JMaxB Nah, I don't think so at all.
I'm convinced that most people are happy to tolerate the six-inch screen of their handheld super computer, and that's about it as far as computers go. Instead, at least where we were lucky enough to move to last year most people still rely on slower, generally more approachable methods for news, socialising, and so on. It's very nice, actually, and I would recommend it to people who are Very Online.
(got inspired to go full-length; stopped the reply and made my thoughts their own thing instead)
@SimonWoods I’d throw in the streaming services, and a few photo related apps for most of my friends, and we have the delivery/ride sharing services (Uber/Bolt).
