It’s one of my favorite places in the world, one of those countries where I feel at home. And one of the few that’s not in Asia. That’s saying a lot.

Every time I land in Cape Verde I feel I could live there for the rest of my life. Love the people, love the country, love the slow moving life, love everything.

Monte Cara, São Vicente

A few years ago I had the chance of covering an election there. It was my first time in the country on assignment, after a couple of visits while vacationing. Different perspective, same love for the place.

We spent a week in São Vicente, the coolest island in the archipelago, and another week at the capital, Cidade da Praia. Praia is not as fun and laidback as São Vicente, but still manages to have some of that Capeverdean feel i fell for.

When it comes to these islands, I’m always ready to go back for another round. Wouldn’t mind visiting again.
